Anyone that feels like their hair is so damaged it will never feel nice again, I have a quick fix hair reviving combo to share with you.
With moving into my first house with my partner, Ben, and decorating and cleaning the place I found I just didnt have the time or energy to properly take care of myself and my hair really suffered because of it.
A month after the move my hair was so dry and brittle, the ends were so crunchy they actually felt like straw. I was sure the only way to get rid of that feeling was to have my hair chopped really short, something I’m trying to avoid doing. A couple of weeks back I had a rare, free evening and decided to pamper myself. In went the bubble bath and on went the face mask, and I figured whilst I was at it I might as well attempt to get some life back into my hair. Here’s what I used:
I washed and towel dried my hair first then slathered a generous amount of this all over my hair, focusing on those dry ends. I then proceeded to relax in the bath for about half an hour before rinsing it off. This has argan and macadamia oils for intense hydration. That was the first step and I felt a noticeable improvement immediately. My hair felt much silkier so I figured I might be able to fix it, albeit temporarily, afterall. So I moved on to step 2:
This is a lightweight leave-in protein treatment. It adds strength to your hair – something that your hair needs if you are constantly heat styling it or colouring it. A little less than one pump went onto my towel dried hair followed swiftly by:
These oils help to put back a lot of moisture into your hair. Sometimes you can use too much of a protein treatment that it actually makes your hair more brittle and the ends break off. So to counteract that it’s good to use a more moisturising treatment alongside it. This is the one that I love and I use it almost everyday just to help smooth down any frizziness or flyaways and add some shine and moisture.
Once those products were in I combed through my hair with a wide toothed comb – wide toothed combs cause less damage as they won’t snag your hair the way a regular brush would. I then went to bed and let my hair air dry over night. Since I need to straighten my hair every morning and I’m trying to avoid heat damaging my hair too much I don’t blow dry my hair – I know I’ll have to straighten it in the morning regardless so why not just skip the unnecessary heat at night?!
The next morning before I straightened my hair (for reference I use GHDs) I used this product:
This is a little miracle product that I discovered in a recent Birchbox and I loved it so much I actually purchased it in full size! This does so many things. It’s a heat protector, uv protector, detangler, it seals cuticles, adds shine, smooths hair and locks in colour. It’s a lightweight product which smells incredibly good and as you go through your day you will keep getting wafts of that scent. It’s so good! A few sprays of this and some straightening later and my hair was silky, shiny and soft. It looked and felt so healthy I couldn’t quite believe it so I knew I had to share it with you guys.
Just remember though, this is a temporary fix. Unfortunately nothing will actually repair split ends other than having the damage cut off but this combo will fool anyone into thinking you have lovely, healthy hair until you can bring yourself to go to the hairdressers.
Do you have a miracle hair product? Let me know in the comments.
