I used to love reading. When I was younger I used to read all the time. Throughout my teenage years I would always read before bed, but as I’ve gotten older I don’t seem to find the time anymore, instead choosing to spend that time doing other things (like watching YouTube videos or playing The Simpsons Tapped Out..) I’ve decided I want to change that, I want to get back into the habit of reading. With that in mind I am going to challenge myself to read a book a month and have decided to start a new series on my blog called Currently Reading… to share it with you. I will just say that I am in no way a book reviewer, but I thought I would just let you know what I’m reading, how I’m liking it, that sort of thing, and you can let me know if you have read that particular book, what you thought, and of course leave any book recommendations. Be forewarned, I don’t tend to read anything particularly deep, just the usual chick lit and young adult type books, so if you’re looking for something more meaningful you’re not likely to find it here!
With that being said, this months book of choice is Bridget Jones Mad About The Boy. I was obsessed with the first Bridget Jones book that came out (before it was turned into a movie). I remember staying up late one night at my mums friends’ house, finding this on her bookshelf and deciding to read it. Next thing I knew it was morning, I’d stayed up all night reading! I just love the style of this book, how the days start with a count up of trivial information that gives you an insight into Bridget’s life in a way that you can relate without having to read lengthy, detailed paragraphs. Obviously after that I read the second book, Edge of Reason, which I loved just as much and now 14 years later (fourteen years!!) I am reading this latest instalment. I’m only a few pages in but I’ve already been sucked back into Bridget’s world, despairing over all her angst ridden boy problems/life problems, and finding out what has happened to Mark Darcy.
