Review: Lush Catastrophe Cosmetic

I’m a big fan of Lush but tend to go in for more of the bath products. Over the past 4 years I have been saving up my empty Lush face mask pots as when you have 5 you can take them into any store for them to recycle and you can choose a fresh face mask for free.

Helping save the planet + free face mask = win-win!
The one I picked up this time was Catastrophe Cosmetic, which is one I’ve never tried before. I have some irritated patches on my face and a couple of small breakouts threatening, and this mask claims to calm and soothe whilst mildly exfoliating the skin.

This leaves my skin feeling so soft and looking really plumped up. I do get a couple of small breakouts a couple of days after using this but that’s what face masks generally do – they help bring the dirt and grim to the surface of the skin so it can be eliminated. As this contains a lot of fresh ingredients you do have to keep these masks in the fridge to prevent them from going off (they have a very short shelf life so need to be used up pretty quickly too). I would recommend letting the mask sit at room temperature for a few minutes before using because although the cold mask feels lovely to apply it is quite a dry mask so goes on a little patchy until it’s warmed up a little. It also has a tendency to flake off so I would recommend using this whilst in the bath to prevent it falling off all over your house!

At £6.50 for a 75g pot it is on the pricy side but I like to pick up a Lush face mask every so often as a treat and this is one I would definitely repurchase.
