Forever21 Wishlist

I’ve got a little bit of a wishlist going on over on Forever21’s site, loosely inspired by Coachella.. I was just having a browse whilst bored one Sunday afternoon, and what started with just one outfit I liked turned into several items being added to my wishlist, so I thought I’d share!

Here is my Forever21 Wishlist:

Lashes & Lingerie | Adore Me

I was recently inspired by Adore Me, to put together a look based around my favourite lingerie set and take part in their Lashes & Lingerie challenge. They want people to create a look based around one of their gorgeous lingerie sets. I’ve seen a few other posts on this and most seem to be going for the more glam option, but I feel more comfortable relaxing at home with my fiancé. With that in mind here is my mood board:

I’ve gone for the Maliyah set which is a delicate purple (my favourite colour) and is unlined. I paired this with a pair of dark wash skinny jeans from H&M and not much else clothing wise, giving this outfit a relaxed but sexy feel for chilling out at home. My hair would be loose with a soft, natural wave and for makeup, I’d keep that quite natural too. Just a BB cream to let my skin shine through, a little bit of bronzer to add a slight contour, a touch of tinted lip balm (you know, for all that kissing ;-P) and then adding a glam touch with a pair of half lashes to complete this fluttery, flirty look.

I’d love to know how you would put together an outfit based on a lingerie set so let me know in the comments!

Primark & H&M Clothing Haul

primark h&m clothing haul thegirlinspired beach holiday dress bikini crochet top

After 4 years of no holidays for Ben and I due to my fear of flying, we finally booked a beach holiday to Ibiza this year! We’re going at the end of September and, with relaxing on the beach and taking a dip in the pool in my near future, I realised I seriously needed to expand my summer wardrobe!

I went into Primark first to see if I could snag a few bargains and here’s what I picked up:

primark h&m clothing haul thegirlinspired beach holiday dress bikini crochet top

I love these dresses! I bought one a month ago in black and it’s so comfortable, not too short, lightweight and only £5, so I wanted to pick up another in a brighter colour for my trip. They have a selection of colours and I am so tempted to get one in every shade!

primark h&m clothing haul thegirlinspired beach holiday dress bikini crochet top

I also picked up this dress which has a silky texture, cinches in at the waist and has a ruffly fold-over piece of fabric on the top half which is different from anything else I own. Primark had a lot of these dresses in different prints and colours. I thought this might be nice to wear out in the evenings.

primark h&m clothing haul thegirlinspired beach holiday dress bikini crochet top

A couple of basic pieces that I grabbed whilst I was there as they are so inexpensive and great staple pieces to have on hand. The darker tank I got with the Autumn season in mind, but the white I thought would be good to wear under an open knit/crochet top for more casual evenings.

Is it just me/just in my city, or does Primark not stock matching tops and bottoms for their bikinis?! There were a few I found in sets but most of the ones I liked only had either the top or the bottom half. I ended up heading to H&M to pick up the above pieces. I think the navy and red bikini is so cute, fits really nicely, and the ruffles are very flattering. The lighter blue was in the sale and I couldn’t find the matching bottoms in my size, but I have other bikini bottoms I can mix and match this with so I don’t mind that so much, especially when I only paid £3 for the top!

I picked up another couple of dresses in H&M. The first is a summery orange one with cut outs around the middle and is very lightweight – perfect for exploring the town and maybe doing a little shopping. The second is this gorgeous mix of blues and purples and has a little triangle cut out at the back. I thought this would be good for going out to eat as well.

I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this top or not but once I tried it on I fell in love. It’s a lot sheerer than I originally thought it was going to be, but I thought this would look cute over the top of a bikini paired with shorts and flip flops.

And finally my favourite purchase of the lot – this gorgeous crocheted crop top with flared sleeves. It looks a bit odd in the picture above so I’ve included a pic below of what it looks like on, but this is perfect to wear over a bikini or over that white tank top I showed earlier if it gets a little chilly. It’s not super cropped, and I think the flared sleeves are really fun.

I’m so pleased with everything I got but I still have a few more bits I want to pick up for my trip. Once I’ve got those I plan on doing a collective haul of everything so make sure you’re subscribed to my YouTube channel if you’re interested in seeing that.

Castle Acre OOTD

We’ve had a few nice days so far this summer, so Ben and I decided to take a trip out to Castle Acre for a little walk and picnic. If you’re in Norfolk and fancy something relaxing to do I highly recommend visiting. The town has a few little shops. tea rooms and pubs, but the main attraction has to be the Priory.

This time, instead of paying to go look round the ruins of the Priory, we went for a walk around the perimeter and headed towards the river. You still get great views of the Priory ruins, and if you can fight your way though the overgrowing countryside there’s a lovely little river to walk alongside. It’s very pretty.

So onto my outfit, it’s nothing fancy but I’m wearing my new River Island crop top for the first time and I really like it. I paired that with denim shorts from Forever 21 and my black converse style trainers from Primark.
Ben and I had a lovely day, sat by the river, eating fruit and reading a book/magazine in the sunshine, and like I said, if you’re in the area I highly recommend giving Castle Acre a visit.

Winter Work Wardrobe Wishlist

Try saying that title 5 times fast!!

My winter work wardrobe is seriously lacking now I’m in a less relaxed office (no more jeans and baggy jumpers for me!) So I took to the web to search out some office appropriate threads to keep me warm whilst still looking professional. Here’s what I found from my favourite store – H&M:

Work 2:
Top: Patterned Knit Jumper £14.99

Currently Lusting After… Casual H&M Outfit

I’ve been perusing on H&M and come across a couple of items of clothing that I think would go together perfectly. This Mickey jumper screams 90’s to me and that seems to be an in thing for the Autumn. That paired with this pair of wine coloured, stretchy jeans is the kind of comfy, casual outfit I can see myself chilling out around the house in on a rainy day.
To be honest I’m a little bit in love with this outfit and might actually have to buy it…

#NoBuyJuly Final Update

nobuyjuly

That’s it, my spending ban is over!! I managed to go a whole month without buying anything! No makeup or beauty products, no clothes or accessories, no music or books, I didn’t even buy a magazine (although the latest issue of Glamour with its Clinique freebies almost did me in on the last week!! – £8 for 4 issues – gotta get em’ all!)

If you’ve been following my weekly NoBuyJuly updates (here, here, here and here) then you’ll know it has been tough going and each week presented me with something new to resist. Mostly my cravings were self inflicted – I would watch haul videos and read beauty blogs where something would catch my eye and I’d want it, or else I went online window shopping and of course stumbled upon a sale item that most likely wouldn’t be around after my ban was up, which seriously put my self control to the test!

Although it has been hard, I have somehow managed to get through the month. It sounds almost like I’m trying to beat an addiction or something, and I guess in some ways it is. Any time I go into the city I have this uncontrollable need to buy something before I leave and it puts me in a really bad mood if I can’t. Work has been a bit crap recently and normally I would cheer myself up by having a little spend but I have had to stop myself and just get on with things. It’s not been easy but I’m not any worse off for not just giving in and buying whatever I wanted.

nobuyjuly

Don’t get me wrong, I haven’t completely changed my shopping habits, I think I would have to restrain myself for a lot longer than just a month to alter those! But I’ve come to realise that I do not need the latest and greatest lipstick/hair oil/nail polish.. and I don’t have to justify my purchases as being “for a video/blog post!” Before this little experiment I would have the urge to spend and just buy anything but now I think I’ll be a little more careful in my selection and take the time to really think about where my money is going.

I can’t tell you the number of times I have stood in front of my very much full wardrobe and thought “I have nothing to wear!” all because when I shop I just go to spend money, not because I particularly need anything. So I tend to just grab whatever catches my eye (which is usually casual tops and jumpers), but I don’t stop to consider if I already have something similar or what other pieces in my wardrobe said item might go with. So even though I have a fair amount of clothes I can’t really pull a lot of outfits from them as they don’t really go together, hence my feeling of having nothing to wear.

Armed with this new insight I am planning on being more selective and shopping for outfits rather than picking up the same pieces I always get. And when it comes to makeup I do not need another neutral eyeshadow palette or mid-toned pink lipstick! I want to fill the holes in my collection with products that I have nothing else like so that I have a wide variety to choose from, rather than be overwhelmed with my choice of 8 different shimmery champagne eyeshadows..

I am planning on having a little spend now NoBuyJuly is over. I feel like I’ve earned it for my good behaviour and I feel like I will now make better choices. But on the whole I am glad I did this and pleased I stuck to it for the full month. My next challenge is a social media ban throughout August – that one will be really tough.. Maybe I’ll post about that another time though!

Did you partake in #NoBuyJuly too? How did you get on?

Total saved in July: £129.94 (obviously if I had of bought these items as and when they caught my eye I would have ended up spending a lot more as I would have seen other things online and in-store whilst browsing…)

#NoBuyJuly Update 3

I’ve been browsing Love, Hearts & Crosses this week and it has almost been my downfall – it’s a boutique online store that sells jewellery you won’t find on the high street. Not only do they have a sale section, they also have a sample sale section where they are selling limited edition, one off sample items at discount…. This is one website where I have actually added items to my basket. It’s the limited edition, limited stock that hooked me in. The fact that if I wait until July is over these items might not be available anymore. But, after adding to my basket I realised that although the pieces were cute and so inexpensive, I didn’t actually NEED them. I would find other items of jewellery that would be just as cute and just as cheap elsewhere after my spending ban. So I emptied my basket, but not before screenshotting the items I was looking to buy so I could share them with you!

IMATS/London Haul

**Prepare for a picture heavy post!**
As I’m sure most of you are aware, it was IMATS a couple of weekends ago (for those that don’t know it’s an International Makeup Artist Trade Show that takes place for one weekend, each year, all over the world). Last year was my first time going and I loved it, you can read about my experience here, and watch my haul video here. I knew I wanted to go again so this year I went with my friend, Carla (after much persuasion from me Carla has just started up her own blog so go over and show her some love cause she’s amazing!)

We got the train at stupid-o-clock in the morning and rocked up to the Olympia National Hall around 9am. First stop on our list was Nars. Unfortunately they didn’t really have any of the products I was after so I just got this cute little Andy Warhol set. The eyeshadows are gorgeous and have such a beautiful, glowy sheen, and the lipgloss is seriously amazing too.

I picked up another pink Z Palette because these come in so handy for storing together eyeshadows, blushes and the like. I’ve literally only just finished filling up my first one and I have another which is almost full of my MAC eyeshadows so I wanted to get this as back up for when I need it. I also bought 3 brushes from Crown Brush. I picked some up last year and was really impressed with the quality and price. I think I paid around £3-4 for each of these and they are so soft and work really well.

imats, london, haul, makeup, primark, thegirlinspired, crown brushes

There wasn’t really anything else that caught my eye at IMATS, so after having a wander around all the stalls we headed over to Oxford Street for a bit more shopping. I spotted Muji so quickly popped in there to pick up a set of acrylic storage drawers as I’ve heard good things about them. With re-doing my girlcave I knew I wanted to have something proper to keep my everyday makeup in and these are perfect. I got the narrower but deeper 2 drawer set and it pretty much holds everything I need it to.

Next was Topshop. I wasn’t too fussed about looking at the clothes as I’m not really a fan, but I wanted to check out the makeup. I ended up buying 2 highlighter products – one gold toned powder highlight in Sunbeam and one silver toned Glow Stick cream highlighter in Party Up. I’ve tried both of these and they look gorgeous on. I’m really into a glowy, highlighted cheek at the moment.

Then we went onto Primark for some bargains. I picked up 3 thin, marl effect t-shirts in grey, lilac and heather – super comfy and soft; this amazing pair of blue mirrored aviator style sunglasses – serious love!; and some fairy lights as I thought they would look really pretty in my room.

After all that shopping we needed to refuel so stopped at Eat for some lunch. We had wanted to go to Forever21 and Victoria’s Secret but the Gay Pride Parade got in our way so that’ll have to be another time. We headed back to the station and whilst waiting for our train I somehow manage to do a little bit more shopping…

It feels like it’s been ages since I bought anything from Lush. I picked up a couple of old favourites as well as something new to try. I decided I wanted to give their Big shampoo a go so I picked that up, then grabbed the American Cream conditioner as well because the scent is amazing and it stays in your hair. I love Dream Cream so got a large tub of that which will last ages as you only need a little bit but it’s the self-preserving formula so I don’t need to worry about it going off. Lastly, I got a couple of bath products – Dream Time bath melt as I haven’t had that in a while, and of course I had to get my all time favourite year-round product, The Comforter. This is the product that started my love affair with Lush so obviously I had to pick up one of these, and the best part is I’ll get at least 3 baths out of this!

So there you have it! If you want to watch a video of me rambling about these products a bit more then you can watch that video below. Did you go to IMATS? If so tell me what you got! Yes I know I’m nosy!!
