Primark & H&M Clothing Haul

primark h&m clothing haul thegirlinspired beach holiday dress bikini crochet top

After 4 years of no holidays for Ben and I due to my fear of flying, we finally booked a beach holiday to Ibiza this year! We’re going at the end of September and, with relaxing on the beach and taking a dip in the pool in my near future, I realised I seriously needed to expand my summer wardrobe!

I went into Primark first to see if I could snag a few bargains and here’s what I picked up:

I love these dresses! I bought one a month ago in black and it’s so comfortable, not too short, lightweight and only £5, so I wanted to pick up another in a brighter colour for my trip. They have a selection of colours and I am so tempted to get one in every shade!

I also picked up this dress which has a silky texture, cinches in at the waist and has a ruffly fold-over piece of fabric on the top half which is different from anything else I own. Primark had a lot of these dresses in different prints and colours. I thought this might be nice to wear out in the evenings.

A couple of basic pieces that I grabbed whilst I was there as they are so inexpensive and great staple pieces to have on hand. The darker tank I got with the Autumn season in mind, but the white I thought would be good to wear under an open knit/crochet top for more casual evenings.

Is it just me/just in my city, or does Primark not stock matching tops and bottoms for their bikinis?! There were a few I found in sets but most of the ones I liked only had either the top or the bottom half. I ended up heading to H&M to pick up the above pieces. I think the navy and red bikini is so cute, fits really nicely, and the ruffles are very flattering. The lighter blue was in the sale and I couldn’t find the matching bottoms in my size, but I have other bikini bottoms I can mix and match this with so I don’t mind that so much, especially when I only paid £3 for the top!

I picked up another couple of dresses in H&M. The first is a summery orange one with cut outs around the middle and is very lightweight – perfect for exploring the town and maybe doing a little shopping. The second is this gorgeous mix of blues and purples and has a little triangle cut out at the back. I thought this would be good for going out to eat as well.

I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this top or not but once I tried it on I fell in love. It’s a lot sheerer than I originally thought it was going to be, but I thought this would look cute over the top of a bikini paired with shorts and flip flops.

And finally my favourite purchase of the lot – this gorgeous crocheted crop top with flared sleeves. It looks a bit odd in the picture above so I’ve included a pic below of what it looks like on, but this is perfect to wear over a bikini or over that white tank top I showed earlier if it gets a little chilly. It’s not super cropped, and I think the flared sleeves are really fun.

I’m so pleased with everything I got but I still have a few more bits I want to pick up for my trip. Once I’ve got those I plan on doing a collective haul of everything so make sure you’re subscribed to my YouTube channel if you’re interested in seeing that.

New Things From MAC

MAC Mineralize Skin Finish MSF Soft & Gentle Cremesheen Lipstick Coral Bliss Fanfare Haul

It feels like it’s been ages since I bought anything from MAC but one of the Christmas presents from Ben was a MAC makeover and since you get to redeem the price of the makeover in products I picked up a couple of things.

I’ll be doing a separate post on my MAC experience as I thought it might be helpful for anyone that’s not had a makeup application done there before to read up on what to expect, but for today I thought I would just share what I picked up.

The MSF and coral lipstick were both products the makeup artist used on me and I really liked how they looked so I decided to pick those up. I’m in a bit of a lipstick kick at the moment (just bought 3 lipsticks from Revlon as they had a 3 for 2 deal on plus a free nail polish so I took advantage!) so wanted to get another lipstick. I always tend to get fairly neutral pink lipsticks so wanted to branch out and get something a little different. I was actually looking for Ravishing but they didn’t seem to have in and with indecision setting in I ended up reaching for the familiar pinks and picked up Fanfare.

The MSFs seem to have updated packaging with a magnetic closure which adds that luxurious feel. All 3 products are gorgeous and I’m very happy with them. I do have naturally quite dark lips so I’d like to get a nude lipliner to help the lipstick shades show up more true to colour, so if you’ve got any suggestions please let me know.

IMATS/London Haul

**Prepare for a picture heavy post!**
As I’m sure most of you are aware, it was IMATS a couple of weekends ago (for those that don’t know it’s an International Makeup Artist Trade Show that takes place for one weekend, each year, all over the world). Last year was my first time going and I loved it, you can read about my experience here, and watch my haul video here. I knew I wanted to go again so this year I went with my friend, Carla (after much persuasion from me Carla has just started up her own blog so go over and show her some love cause she’s amazing!)

We got the train at stupid-o-clock in the morning and rocked up to the Olympia National Hall around 9am. First stop on our list was Nars. Unfortunately they didn’t really have any of the products I was after so I just got this cute little Andy Warhol set. The eyeshadows are gorgeous and have such a beautiful, glowy sheen, and the lipgloss is seriously amazing too.

I picked up another pink Z Palette because these come in so handy for storing together eyeshadows, blushes and the like. I’ve literally only just finished filling up my first one and I have another which is almost full of my MAC eyeshadows so I wanted to get this as back up for when I need it. I also bought 3 brushes from Crown Brush. I picked some up last year and was really impressed with the quality and price. I think I paid around £3-4 for each of these and they are so soft and work really well.

There wasn’t really anything else that caught my eye at IMATS, so after having a wander around all the stalls we headed over to Oxford Street for a bit more shopping. I spotted Muji so quickly popped in there to pick up a set of acrylic storage drawers as I’ve heard good things about them. With re-doing my girlcave I knew I wanted to have something proper to keep my everyday makeup in and these are perfect. I got the narrower but deeper 2 drawer set and it pretty much holds everything I need it to.

Next was Topshop. I wasn’t too fussed about looking at the clothes as I’m not really a fan, but I wanted to check out the makeup. I ended up buying 2 highlighter products – one gold toned powder highlight in Sunbeam and one silver toned Glow Stick cream highlighter in Party Up. I’ve tried both of these and they look gorgeous on. I’m really into a glowy, highlighted cheek at the moment.

Then we went onto Primark for some bargains. I picked up 3 thin, marl effect t-shirts in grey, lilac and heather – super comfy and soft; this amazing pair of blue mirrored aviator style sunglasses – serious love!; and some fairy lights as I thought they would look really pretty in my room.

After all that shopping we needed to refuel so stopped at Eat for some lunch. We had wanted to go to Forever21 and Victoria’s Secret but the Gay Pride Parade got in our way so that’ll have to be another time. We headed back to the station and whilst waiting for our train I somehow manage to do a little bit more shopping…

It feels like it’s been ages since I bought anything from Lush. I picked up a couple of old favourites as well as something new to try. I decided I wanted to give their Big shampoo a go so I picked that up, then grabbed the American Cream conditioner as well because the scent is amazing and it stays in your hair. I love Dream Cream so got a large tub of that which will last ages as you only need a little bit but it’s the self-preserving formula so I don’t need to worry about it going off. Lastly, I got a couple of bath products – Dream Time bath melt as I haven’t had that in a while, and of course I had to get my all time favourite year-round product, The Comforter. This is the product that started my love affair with Lush so obviously I had to pick up one of these, and the best part is I’ll get at least 3 baths out of this!

Lush Holiday Haul 2013

Lush Holiday Haul
It’s the most wonderful time of the year…. Especially when it comes to Lush products. The holiday stuff that Lush comes out with each year are always my favourite things. In fact, my most favourite thing that Lush does ever is their Cinders Bath Ballistic, so I always make sure to stock up on them when the holidays roll around. So, of course, as soon as Lush came out with their holiday collection this year I had to pick up some of the cute new additions, as well as grab a few old favourites. Here’s what I bought:

❤ Bombardino
❤ Luxury Lush Pud
❤ Snowman
❤ Christmas Panguin
❤ Candy Mountain
❤ Cinders x4!!

I also grabbed a small tin of Charity Pot at the checkout, because it was only £1, the money goes towards charity (hence the name!) and why not?!

Check out my video below if you want to know a little more about each of these..

Lush Halloween Haul

Lush Halloween Haul

Lush is one of my big loves. I get obsessed over the Holiday goodies they come out with every year but I’ve never been overly keen on the Halloween range. This year however the products were just too darn cute to resist!

I picked up one each of Soot Ball, Pumkin and Lord of Misrule and can’t wait to try each of them. I plan on doing reviews of each on this blog once I have tried them out so be on the look out for those. Soot Ball is the one I am most drawn to and the one I would purchase were I only to allow myself one (but I’m greedy so had to get all three!) so that will probably be the one I use up first.

You can pick these up from Lush’s website here. For reference Soot Ball is £2.50, Pumkin is £2.75, and Lord of Misrule is £3.30. If you want to get a first look at each of them you can watch my haul below.

Mini Drugstore Lipstick Haul & Swatches

Mini Drugstore Lipstick Haul

I have another haul for you guys today. I know, I know, I seriously need to cut down on my spending. It all started with IMATS and it’s gone downhill from there (which is really bad considering I bought my first house just before IMATS!) I promise my spending habits will improve…. just as soon as I’ve checked out the new season clothes that stores all seem to be getting in right now… hey, a girls got to look good ya know!

Anyway, onto the haul. I did a video on this as well, so if you want to see that you can watch it here:
I rarely wear lipsticks, but I think part of the reason for that is because I don’t have a great deal to choose from, and I’m not entirely sure the shades I have in my collection suit me all that well. So I figured Boots was a good place to pick up some inexpensive lippies and here they are.

Mini Drugstore Lipstick Haul
Seventeen Supreme Shine in Barely Blush £4.99
Mini Drugstore Lipstick Haul
This is a natural pink colour that is fast becoming an everyday favourite for me. The finish is more of a sheen than a shine but the pigmentation is decent – not totally opaque but the colour is buildable. It glides onto the lips very smoothly and feels really moisturising and lightweight. To be honest, it feels a lot like a lip balm which means it doesn’t dry your lips out and I really like that about it.
Seventeen Supreme Shine in Deep Secret £4.99
Mini Drugstore Lipstick Haul
This is the same creamy formula as Barely Blush but the colour is a deeper, darker pinky-plum. Deep Secret is my vampiest lipstick so this will be lovely in the upcoming Autumn/Fall season and for nights out.
Seventeen Lasting Fix in Mulled Wine £4.29
Mini Drugstore Lipstick Haul
Another creamy lipstick from Seventeen, although not quite as creamy as their Supreme Shine range. This is a deep muted red shade that leans more towards berry red than true red. When you want something a little more intense on your lips, Mulled Wine is an easier to wear daytime lipstick than the typical in-your-face red. Another great point to mention is that when this lipstick wears off it leaves behind a stain so you don’t have to worry about constantly reapplying this colour, and it doesn’t look dry either.
Rimmel Lasting Finish in Heartbreaker £4.99
Mini Drugstore Lipstick Haul
Heartbreaker is a lovely berry pink shade, similar to Mulled Wine but with a definite pink tone. Again, this lipstick is creamy and non-drying, and will look beautiful in the colder months as an everyday colour.
Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate in 01 £5.49
Mini Drugstore Lipstick Haul
From Rimmel’s Kate Moss range of lipsticks, this is a lovely bright red with a hint of pink running through it. It’s a blue toned red so it makes your teeth look whiter and it’s more of a matte/satin finish so it lasts a bit longer on the lips. The only problem is that it’s the most drying out of the ones I picked up, but that’s the only downside. It’s rather intense so I will be saving this one for special occasions and may have to pick up a red lip liner to go with it to give it real lasting power.
Mini Drugstore Lipstick Haul
I think Barely Blush is my favourite of the bunch and the one I’ll get the most wear out of, but I can’t wait for the colder months to really try out the darker shades.
Which colour is your favourite?~x Jenna

MAC Haul & Swatches

I recently bought a few things from MAC and since I rarely shop at MAC I thought I would share with you what I got along with swatches of each. Some of these things I have been wanting for a very long time – as in 3 years long!! Like I said, I rarely shop at MAC so have to build myself up to purchase something, which usually results in a wishlist as long as my arm! I also like to watch videos on other people’s top MAC eyeshadows and lipsticks, so after watching Tanya Burr’s video a few of the colours she recommended ended up on my list as well.

I filmed a haul of what I purchased so if you want to see that you can watch this video:

MAC Eyeshadow in Patina £10:
    MAC Haul
Patina is one of the shades I heard Tanya Burr talking about. It’s an absolutely beautiful, soft, taupe brown shade with a golden pearl and a frost finish. Perfect as an all over the lid colour for everyday looks, or if used in the crease it will blend out darker bronze and brown shades to create a smoked out effect. It is quickly making its way into my top 5 MAC eyeshadows.
MAC Eyeshadow in Copperplate £10
MAC Haul

Copperplate is a brownish-grey or a greyish-brown. This muted matte squared shade will work lovely to blend out smoky eyes or just all over the lid as a simple everyday colour for those that prefer a lighter look.

MAC Eyeshadow in Smut £10
MAC Haul
Smut is a soft charcoal with a hint of red shimmer and a velvet finish. I use this as a powder liner, and in the crease and outer corner to give definition to the eye. I haven’t tried it yet, but I bet this would look gorgeous on the lid over a dark base to create a smoky eye. If you have any suggestions for bases that might work well with this let me know!
MAC Eyeshadow in Club £10
MAC Haul

An interesting one. Club has a definite, almost bottle green, sheen to it in the pan but not so much once applied. It’s a reddish-brown with a green pearl and a satin finish. It’s a bit of a chameleon, adapting to whichever colour family you put it with – as a crease colour to browns it looks more brown, however add it as a liner to green looks and it pulls more green. I definitely want to experiment with this one and play about with different colour combinations.
MAC Eyeshadow in Sketch £10
MAC Haul

This is one I have wanted for several years, ever since I first heard Elle Fowler going on about how this was her favourite MAC eyeshadow. It’s a lovely velvet burgundy shade with red shimmer that makes lighter coloured eyes pop. I like using this to line my lower lash line, just to add something a little different than a brown or black. This will be lovely in the autumn/fall as a crease colour.

All of these eyeshadows have lovely pigmentation, and are so easy to apply and blend.
MAC Blush in Peaches £18
MAC Haul
When I first got this I worried it was going to look too orange on my cheeks but its a sheertone blush so it just adds a lovely sheer wash of peach, which really compliments my light olive toned skin. The colour is buildable so I can apply just a little bit for daytime, or layer it up for a brighter pop on nights out.
MAC Lipstick in Chatterbox £15
MAC Haul

Chatterbox is described as a bright red-pink. I feel like this is a Barbie pink kind of colour and I don’t have anything else quite like this in my collection. It’s an amplified finish and has a creamy application.
MAC Haul

So that’s everything that I picked up at MAC recently. I hope you’re enjoying my new blog. I find it quite therapeutic to type up posts so expect to see lots more in the near future.
